Clinical Nurse Specialist
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will contribute to the development of nursing knowledge, the ongoing improvement of nursing practice, and quality service in the areas of Cardiac and Critical Care through the demonstration of leadership, formal and informal education delivery, and expert clinical consultation. The CNS provides leadership and focuses on improving outcomes and quality of care by advancing nursing practice in the areas of Cardiac and Critical Care through the use of advanced and evidence-based practice. The CNS takes a lead role in evaluating research and the development of frameworks and strategies that facilitate the implementation of best practices for this area of specialty. The CNS will effectively use these strategies and frameworks to monitor new and existing program policies and procedures with input from the interdisciplinary team members and revise as necessary.
Reporting to both the Program Director, Cardiac Services and the Director, Critical Care Network, the CNS is an advanced practice nurse responsible for planning, implementing, and/or coordinating the delivery of care within the Cardiac and Critical Care programs and the development of new programs. The CNS functions both independently and in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in all aspects of this role.
The Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) as well as within a patient and family-centered care model. The Registered Nurse practices in a variety of clinical settings and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse ensures the delivery of client–centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs.
Switchboard – Cashier – Admitting Clerk
This position performs a variety of clerical duties associated with operating the switchboard, receiving and registering patients, processing accounts receivable such as:
• Operating switchboard and public address/paging systems;
• Patient registration;
• Confirming hospital procedural appointments with physicians, nursing units and patients;
• Receiving payments for a variety of patient bills and sundry accounts, balances daily cash, prepare bank deposits and cash reports, maintain petty cash accounts;
• Clerical duties – typing, compiling and distributing various documents/lists/schedules, completing data entry for pre-admissions, admissions, discharges, and transfers;
• Receives patients/visitors and directs to appropriate areas.
