Director, eCommerce Technology

The Director, eCommerce Technology leads highly visible and technically complex global delivery experiences for the Online, Marketing and Retail business lines. This role operates with many technical organizations, product managers and with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership across Indigo. The Director, eCommerce Technology is responsible for driving strategic planning and project execution, recruiting, and developing top engineering talent, as well as building high performance, scalable and robust systems in a complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment to achieve department goals and drive innovation of the platform.

  • Responsible for the over-all systems development life cycle, anticipating customer expectations and needs
  • Drive the roadmap for DevOps and deployment automation
  • Drive evolution and progress in our application support model
  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments; manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Management of departmental resources: recruiting, coaching, mentoring, as well as enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
  • Provide technical direction, work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
  • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
  • Collaborate with department heads to build roadmap definition
  • Ensure the execution of team deliverables and adapt team priorities based on changing needs

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related degree program
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a technology-related role in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • 7+ years of experience in understanding of all aspects of software engineering, including coding, architecture and design
  • 5+ years of experience taking complex projects from initial concept through final launch including web, mobile and distributed systems
  • 7+ years of experience with employee development, performance management and delivering results
  • Project management framework or related experience and excellent development processes to deliver high quality software, in rapid iterations
  • Extensive experience in innovation management principles and processes
  • Extensive experience in managing digital products in an e-commerce environment
  • Exceptional strategic thinking ability to analyze and creatively solve market problems using a deep analytical skill set

SPECIALIST, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS)

KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS

  • Provide support for all EHS initiatives that aim to reduce the number of workplace incidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Effective occupation claims management aimed at reducing high impact claims.
  • Health & Safety risk assessments to recognize, assess, control, and evaluate hazards in the workplace
  • Environmental Health & Safety audit compliance
  • Compliance with Environmental Health & Safety legislation and applicable regulations and codes
  • Partnership with CDC operations leadership team and employees to explore opportunities for
    continuous improvement in health & safety

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Functional

  • Manage the accident/incident reporting database to ensure all incident reports are closed out and appropriate corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and walkabouts to identify workplace hazards.
  • Coordinate the collection of EHS performance metrics and prepare reports as required.
  • Provide support in the investigation of workplace accidents, incidents, and illnesses.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining or updating EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Support sustainability initiatives to ensure compliance with the Environmental Protection & Enhancement Act (EPEA) and applicable regulations
  • Support the EHS orientation training process and other required specific training, including LMS training development and administration.
  • Manage work-related claims, including filing appropriate documentation, and supporting the Return-to-Work program and initiatives.
  • Generate periodic reports and statistics on environmental, health and safety and housekeeping (5S) metrics.
  • Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee with monthly inspections and follow up of corrective action for hazards identified,
  • Participate in the development and implementation of EHS corporate initiatives as required.
  • Liaise with external regulatory/enforcement representatives, including Directors of Inspection, Directors of Medical Services, Directors of Occupational Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety Officers, WCB representatives, AER representatives, and any other regulatory officer.
  • Prepares EHS communications to support the EHS Program.
  • Support Emergency preparedness plan and initatives.
  • Support Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) administration and maintenance program.
  • Support the First Aid Program including training and maintenance of first aid kits.
  • Support and participate in Kaizen events, as needed.
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes.
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs.
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers.
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them.
