Assistant Director, Safety, Flight Ops, Civil Aviation And ATM Consulting

Description

Reporting to the Director, Safety & Flight Ops (SFO) Products and Services, and the Director, IATA Consulting, the Assistant Director, Safety, Flight Ops, Civil Aviation and ATM Consulting will be accountable for delivering IATA’s consulting services in the aforementioned areas. Responsibilities will include generating budgeted sales of professional advice, project managing consulting assignments and managing administrative aspects of the portfolio. In addition, the AD Safety, Flight Ops, Civil Aviation and ATM Consulting will be required to participate in engagements as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

Develop the Safety, Flight Ops, Civil Aviation and ATM Consulting services portfolio, and participate in the definition and execution of the overall marketing strategies for the Consultancy Services in collaboration with the IATA Consulting line of business (LOB), the Safety and Flight Operations SMEs as well as regional sales teams and country managers;

-Achieve revenue, expense and surplus margin targets developed for the associated profit center(s)

-Identify consulting opportunities in the areas of flight operations, civil aviation, safety and security programs, restructuring, and other airline, ATM and civil aviation related consultancy projects; this will require the development of unsolicited proposals as well as responses to calls for expression of interest and requests for proposals;

-Negotiation, until contract closure, of consulting projects in line with the budgetary targets set by the Director, SFO Products and Services;

-Develop a pool of external experts and negotiate contracts for external resources needed to execute the consultancy projects, including pricing, specifications and resource allocation;

-Manage the execution and/or delivery of consultancy projects, using best practices;

-Prepare annual budgets and monthly financial projections, submit reports and regular updates on progress, accomplishments, financial status and opportunities as requested;

-Supervise the work of the SFO consulting team assigned to this product line;

-Develop, implement and sell new products and services that will generate additional commercial benefits for SFO consulting.

Qualifications and Skills

– University degree in Business Administration, Economics or a related subject, or significant experience in the area of aviation consultancy;

– Formal training in civil aviation management and/or aviation safety an advantage;

– Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience as a civil aviation/airline safety/ATM consultant, in the areas of project management, safety, organizational restructuring and air navigation services;

– Experience with third-party funded projects such as the WB, the EU and other regional banks;

– Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in managing major projects and contracts involving external consultants;

– High level of computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office and MS project;

– Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write reports in English and French, knowledge of another language would be an advantage;

– Willingness to undertake international travel;

– Ability to work well in cross-functional and multi-national teams.
