Lead Hand

As the Lead Hand – Electrical Maintenance, you will work in a dynamic environment at Horizon Oil Sands site  where you will oversee all electrical work for the assigned business unit and make timely, sound decisions to support the goal of the utilities and upgrading electrical maintenance team. You will be responsible for understanding the challenges of day-to-day maintenance, as well as shutdowns, unplanned outages and the significance of proper planning and coordination to successful plant operation. Your strong knowledge and experience in electrical systems and field operations will be demonstrated through on-going support of planning and coordinating maintenance related duties, overseeing and delegating all tasks for Electrical &  Instrumentation (E&I) team members and contractors, and dedication to defining and presenting innovative solutions regarding concerns for E&I integrity, equipment availability and materials.
 
This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
  • Ensure daily activities are performed in a safe manner as per codes, regulations, standards and best practices
  • Prioritize day and night shift tasks and allocate manpower to achieve schedule goals
  • Attend daily planning meeting, review JHA’s & FLHA’s with technicians in the field
  • Participate in creating, developing, reviewing and updating Procedures and Preventative Maintenance
  • Ensure the E&I plant shop is maintained and kept in an orderly fashion, and review Spare Parts Lists
  • Interface with Maintenance Leads, Lead Hands, Planning Groups, Operations, Engineering Support, Contractors and Vendors to ensure timely co-ordination of maintenance activities
  • Ensure all required documents, drawings and parts information are attached to the work orders and red line documents from the field are entered into document control and engineering
  • Submit reports to Superintendents and carry-over scopes of work to your cross shift
  • Ensure all CWP QA/QC documentation and authorizations to energize forms, are completed prior to energizing equipment
  • Review and approve Rotating Equipment Acceptance Forms (REAF) for electrical discipline
  • Interface with Planning Teams and Materials Management to track work orders and parts availability

Occupational Health Nurse

Reporting to the Lead, Medical Administrative Services, the Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of employee health programs and disability management initiatives on Horizon site.

This position is based at our Horizon Oil Sands site in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
  • Provide consultation, support, counseling and clinical expertise to employees on health issues.  Make referrals to other agencies as necessary
  • Promote and provide information on health promotion and risk reduction (stress management, smoking cessation)
  • Consults and advise Managers, Supervisors and staff on potential health risks involving exposure to chemical, biological, physical and psychosocial hazards. Identify health surveillance needs and establish appropriate monitoring processes
  • Develop, implement and maintain confidential employee health records, recall and surveillance systems and computerized data collection
  • Collect and analyze data and prepare applicable reports and proposals
  • Conduct health assessments, immunization clinics, occupational blood/body fluid exposure follow up and infectious disease contact tracings
  • Case management for the rehabilitation of ill/injured employees by monitoring the treatment/rehabilitation plan and collaborating with insurers and care providers to determine a disability management plan.  Identify complex disability management cases and collaborate with the Health and Wellness Manager and Physician
  • Participate in EOC programs, emergency planning, and disaster programs
  • Serve as a focal point for centralized communication and coordination of treatment/rehabilitation plan
  • Coordinate the appropriate participants in the development of individual Return to Work (RTW) plan and ensure the process and outcome are evaluated
  • Identify systemic barriers to RTW and assist departments to identify suitable transition work for ill/injured employees
  • A liaison with WCB, ensure all recording and reporting of injuries are expediently processed through WCB.  Maintain a productive relationship with WCB

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing, working towards achieving or willing to register
  • Registered Nurse and practicing member of the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta is required
  • 3+ years’ experience in the Occupational Health Nursing field and the Oil Sands Industry preferred
  • Microsoft Office skills are required
  • Experience and knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Health Information Act, WCB Act and Regulations and Privacy Act
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with many contacts
  • Able to function in a team or work independently

Heavy Equipment Technician – Horizon

Heavy Equipment Technicians are integral members of the Mining team and directly support mine maintenance goals and objectives. In this role, you will collaborate with and work alongside field and shop maintenance crews to ensure that all heavy equipment is optimized and maintained.

You will utilize your heavy duty mechanical experience to focus on the maintenance requirements for designated heavy equipment. Horizon mine maintenance has 3 distinct areas. We are looking for journey persons with experience maintaining the following equipment:

Shovel Fleet:

  • P&H 4100 Boss cable shovels
  • O&K RH400 shovels
  • BE 495 shovels 
  • CAT 6090 shovels 
  • EX 3600 and 8000 shovels 
  • PC/EX 1800 and 2000 excavators

Ultra-Size Haul Truck Fleet:

  • CAT 797 B / F
  • CAT 793
  • CAT 785
  • Liebherr T284
  • Komatsu 930

Support Equipment Fleet:

  • CAT D11 dozers
  • CAT 24 graders

**Please note, the shift rotation for this role is 7 days on – 7 days off, 7 nights on – 7 nights off**
