A&W Restaurants is an American chain of fast food restaurants distinguished by their burgers, draft root beer and root beer. Its origins date back to 1919, when Roy W. Allen set up a roadside drinking stand to offer a new thick and creamy drink, root beer, at a parade in honor of World War I veterans in Lodi, California. Allen’s employee Frank Wright partnered with him in 1922 and established their first restaurant in Sacramento, California in 1923. The company name is taken from the initials of their last names, respectively – Allen and Wright. The company became famous in the United States for its “cold mugs” where the mugs are stored in the freezer and eventually filled with A&W Root Beer before being offered to customers.

The company, which turned into a franchise in 1926, has locations around the world today, each offering a typical fast-food menu consisting of hamburgers, french fries and hot dogs. A number of outlets serve as car-driven restaurants with car shops. Therefore, personnel needs are very high. The firm, which frequently hires personnel for entry-level jobs such as service personnel, waiters, cleaners or cooks, makes choices by giving importance to human relations and appearance in addition to experience.
